MOST SUCCESSFUL CHAPMAN TOUR COMES TO A CLOSE
05 May 2005

Steven Curtis Chapman’s most successful tour to date, the “All Things New Tour,” came to a close this weekend in Raleigh, NC, to a crowd of well over 10,000 attendees. The entire 72-city nationwide tour saw Chapman perform in front of nearly 350,000 fans with 16 sellouts and incredible crowds at every show on the tour, averaging 5,000 people a night.

Sellouts were in markets such as Washington, D.C., Houston, Atlanta, Tulsa, Kansas City, Ft. Meyers, Little Rock, Lakeland, Knoxville, Greenville, Birmingham and Memphis. The show in Washington, D.C. sold out three weeks in advance, while Minneapolis and Houston both had capacity crowds of over 10,000 people and the New York City date had over 14,000 in attendance.

Concert promoters were impressed with turnouts and were excited about the ministry of each evening. Creative Artists Agency agent John Huie, commented, “The gracious manner in which Steven introduced and performed with his touring mates, Chris Tomlin and Casting Crowns, served to represent what our business should be about. The trademark infusion of faith and family throughout his show truly made the night one to remember.”

The “All Things New Tour” delivered its promise each night of the tour, with Chapman giving an amazing concert experience for which he has become so well-known. The tour, held in large venues all across the country, featured songs from Chapman’s current album, All Things New, as well as his hits from the past 17 years. The tour was shared with sixstepsrecords artist/worshiper Chris Tomlin and Beach Street Records’ group Casting Crowns.

“Steven, Chris Tomlin and Casting Crowns have been the perfect tour package,” states the tour’s producer J. David Huffman, COO, Creative Trust Inc. & Creative Trust Workshop. “In all our years of touring, I have never experienced a tour where the hearts and actions of the artists were so aligned in such a way that the entire night was simply seamless in every way. The audience left with much more than they expected to receive, and add to that having more people than ever experiencing the night was simply over the top.”

Chapman shared his thoughts about having the All Things New Tour come to an end. “It is so bittersweet for all of us, but we’re ready to be home after months of touring. Yet, this brings to an end the best tour experience I’ve ever had.”

Chapman explains, “Before this tour began, Mary Beth and I prayed that this would be a significant time in the life of each person God brought to be a part of this tour. It seems that prayer has been answered and God used this time in a very powerful way. Our sincere thanks to our local promoter partners and all our friends at newspapers, magazines, retail, television and radio around the country for their support of the tour.”

Shaohannah’s Hope, the Chapman family’s adoption foundation, was the sponsor of the entire tour. It was a true success, raising over two million dollars during the tour and surpassing its goal for the entire tour. All donations go towards Shaohannah’s Hope and The Stevey Joy Club, where all contributions go to the adoption grant fund.

Chapman was amazed at the reaction towards Shaohannah’s Hope during the tour. “We are overwhelmed and grateful for the incredible response to Shaohannah’s Hope,” he comments. “We could not have imagined this level of partnership and generosity and we’re incredibly excited about how the lives of so many orphans will be changed.”

With the motto “Building A Bridge,” over 1,700 families attending the shows expressed interest in adopting and learning more about Shaohannah’s Hope, while more than 4,000 concertgoers signed up to join the Stevey Joy Club, a monthly giving program. As an incentive, each new Stevey Joy Club member receives a Chinese jade bracelet, a replica of the bracelet Chapman wears. New members also receive the email newsletter Orphan Voice, and if a fan signed up at the concert, new members received the All Things New CD or the “Shaoey & Dot: Bug Meets Bundle” children’s book, written by Chapman and his wife, Mary Beth.

Scott Hasenbalg, director of Shaohannah’s Hope Foundation, was able to personally meet during the tour the numerous families expressing an interest in adopting. Hasenbalg comments, “We will look back on this tour and reference it as one of the most significant activities this ministry has ever done. By God’s grace, it has propelled us to significance as an organization.”

Radio programmers nationwide and in all market sizes have raved about the show and the hit songs packed in each night. David Pierce, K-LOVE and Air 1 Program Director , exclaimed, “This tour had it all! An evening that was as entertaining as it was inspiring. Steven Curtis Chapman Chris Tomlin and Casting Crowns - where do I get tickets for the next show?”

According to Ron Raymond, General Manager of WCTL in Erie, PA, “It was an absolutely phenomenal night of worship! Casting Crowns and Chris Tomlin were simply sensational and no one...I mean, no one, connects with an audience better than Steven Curtis Chapman. We were honored to be a part of the event and our listeners are still talking about it. Thanks for sharing a blessing with Erie!”

Based on the comments from the fans experiencing this very special concert, below are just a few comments from concertgoers, proving this was the concert to see this year:

“What a great performance Steven put on. Steven’s set was really great, [and] he was in such a great mood and upbeat. He was running all over the place and jumping and down. Thanks to Steven and all the guys what an awesome show. I thought I would let everyone know what an awesome time it was.” – fan from Tennessee

“I have never heard Steven better! He rocked! And he did so many songs, too. He did a new cool alternative version of "The Great Adventure" with a different rhythm feel. And I loooove the song "Much Of You." He even opened the whole concert singing the chorus to it as an opening prayer, just with him and guitar! Good stuff!” -fan from Delaware

Steven Curtis Chapman has sold over nine million records including two RIAA certified platinum albums and seven RIAA certified gold albums. He’s received five GRAMMY awards, an American Music Award, 49 Dove Awards (more than any other artist to date), has recorded 43 No. 1 radio hits as well as receiving numerous other honors. Since his recording career began in 1987, Chapman has recorded fourteen projects with Sparrow Records, his most recent studio project titled All Things New, released September 21st, 2004, and previously unavailable material recorded several years ago has recently been made available with the release of Abbey Road Sessions CD/The Walk DVD. He has performed at the White House and has appeared on Fox News, CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN, MSNBC, Hallmark and E!, among many others. The Chapman family has established Shaohannah’s Hope, a foundation providing information and assistance to families who desire to adopt.
